Pair of French Empire Armchairs C.1830

19th century
Description

Fine pair of French Empire mahogany open armchairs c.1830. Padded backest and with shaped cresting rail and curving rear stiles. Open arms with lovely scrolling acanthus carved terminals and supports. Over a sprung seat with a curved front edge, raised on front legs with further carved detail. Upholstered in a pale moss green chenille with brass studs at the edges. Some obvious old wear to the timber, particularly around the arm supports and front legs. Otherwise good condition solid and sturdy, with clean covers. The woodwork has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
