Queen Victoria: A Coalport Bone China Dinner Plate from the Order of the Garter Service

the borders with neo-Rococo C-scrolls in blue enamel, the centre with the badge of the Order of the Garter (with motto: Honi soit qui mal y pense), retailer’s mark for Nixon & Son, Windsor to the reverse: with Victoria Crown...Windsor Castle...

Diameter: 25.3cm

Stock Reference: LH 1941

A very similar- if simpler- design to the Coalport Order of the Garter dinner service circa 1845-50, again, supplied by Nixon & Son of Windsor. Presumably, a later variation on the same pattern. Individual Garter plates were decommissioned and given to royal staff as a reward for loyal service.

Condition: ‘Very Good’. Some minor wear and rubbing to the edges (with traces of gilt) plus a miniscule chip to the edge on the reverse side. Please feel free to contact me if you require further photographs.
