Snakewood is a hardwood from northeast Central America. It has a grain which gives the appearance of snakeskin with darker ripples running horizontally over a lighter brown base colour. It is said to be second in hardness only to lignum vitae. The choice of this wood denotes rarity and quality with the focus on the unusual grain over other features. In very good condition, just a few scratches typical for the age.
