Silver Elephant Hip Flask. Tenax in Fide. 1888.

Description

This handsome Victorian hip flask which is made of solid silver is fully hallmarked for 1888, has a hinged flip / bayonet top which is tight and seals well so does not leak and is made by silversmith Colen Hewer Cheshire.

This hip flask has a charming crest engraved to the front incorporating an elephant's head with a raised trunk together with the motto Tenax In Fide (Steadfast in the faith).

A beautiful quality antique flask in excellent condition that is nice and tactile so would make a wonderful gift.

Hallmarks: Fully hallmarked for silver, Anchor for Birmingham, Victoria's head, makers mark C.C for Colen Hewer Cheshire. Date letter O for 1888. Hallmarked to both sides of the body.

Holds: 125 ml. (1/5 pint. 4 1/4 fl oz).

Total weight: 116 grams.

Condition: Excellent used antique condition with only light signs of use in keeping with age. No damage, splits, holes or breaks. The hinged lid closes tightly with no leaks.
