Antique Swiss silver pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a good quality Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Bimingham 1927 together with the case maker’s mark for the Dennison Watch Case Company. Aaron Dennison was a Birmingham based manufacturer who supplied many different watch makers and assemblers. The case is in lovely condition.

The glass lens has light marking but is very acceptable.

The dial is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a silver double chain, hallmarked for Chester 1923 with a maker’s mark for the Birmingham and Leeds based silversmiths Friedman & Gottliffe Ltd. All the components of the chain bear the same marks so we can be happy that they all started life together. Each of the links has the lion silver mark.

The chain comes with a silver 1932 fob, awarded in 1933 and engraved as such on the reverse.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
