This Victorian walnut inlaid writing table was made circa 1870.

Made in a high-end workshop in England but using the high French design, these desks are often known as bonheur du jour

The kingwood banded and burr walnut top with a leather writing surface has a super structure to the rear that is surmounted by a fine pierced gilt gallery, and the top edge with fine cast gilt brass mounts. Its drawer with a porcelain hand painted plaque in the Sevres.

It stands on the classic elegant cabriole legs with gilt brass mounts to the knees running down the leading edge and to the toes.
