Corvidae Antique has dated this piece to the 1960s.
Scarab rings have been produced since Ancient Egyptian times when the beetle was used as a symbol of the sun god Ra and scarabs were tied to the finger with thread, a motif often echoed in the design of later rings. Scarabs also represent immortality and resurrection, growth and development.

Egyptian faience is an ancient non-clay ceramic which is glazed and usually green, turquoise or blue in colour. Faience scarabs usually have heiroglyphs incised on their reverse, ranging from family names to gods and good luck symbols, and could be purely ornamental or spiritually significant, sometimes placed into the bandages of mummies.

The ring is in excellent vintage/antique condition.
Size M and a half (UK), 6.5 (US). The scarab measures 10 x 7mm and the top of the ring sits approx 4mm above the finger.
Weight: 2.5g.
