This Kamo sofreh is interesting, as it appears, purely from my perspective, to show bird-like images in the centre! The top 'bird' is quite different to the lower 'bird' and I can only guess that they might depict a male and female. This sofreh, made around 1900 in the region of Kamo in central Persia, is woven on a cotton warp with the design in bands of natural-dye wool. At the top and bottom, the white cotton can be seen in heavily braided technique - a great way to make a strong finish, particularly as these sofrehs were used everyday on which to knead the dough.
