Gents Tissot automatic wrist watch, 1953.

The watch has a 17-jewel bumper automatic movement, 28.5T-21, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 2829006 dates it back to 1953.

Early automatic movements such as this one relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.

The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the handsome shaped lugs. The case is 10k gold filled and it is in good condition with just minor marking. Tissot signed winding crown. The screw-on case back is stainless steel and it is signed inside with the Tissot logo.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, seconds sweep and outer minute markers. There is freckling and marking across the dial.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
