Description

This charming side panel was once part of a complete 'mafrash' - a large storage bag like a rectangular box-shape - woven in soumak technique. I love the central indigo-blue band with its depiction of three stylised peacocks - symbols of divine protection and prosperity. Woven around 1900 by Shahsevan nomads in the Moghan region of Azerbaijan, panels like this make interesting and attractive wall decoration.
