A Fine Late Regency Ladies Fitted Cabinet

This superb ladies jewellery, writing and sewing cabinet is in remarkable original time warp condition. It is beautifully veneered in exotic hardwood and decorated with fine mother of pearl marquetry. The cabinet stands on four turned and fluted bun feet with a finely turned moulding above which is also present around the pediment. To each side of the cabinet, there is a pair of carved and turned carrying knobs. The right hand door unlocks and opens which then releases the top which lifts into the upright position and is held in place by a pair of stop hinges. The opposite door can then be freely opened to reveal the fully fitted interior. To the inside of the lid, there is a mirror fitted into a decorative leather gilt embossed frame which can be released and opened to show paper storage. The top of the box is divided into small compartments which are red silk lined and some also have removable lids for storing sewing items. Below there are three drawers which are also inlaid with mother of pearl. The top one is plain for storage, the middle is fully fitted for jewellery and has a lift out tray with further fitted storage below. The bottom drawer pulls out completely and is a separate writing slope that hinges open and is also fitted for pens and inkwells. There is one original glass inkwell. This stunning and intricate cabinet is in amazing original condition. Rarely ever seen with so little signs of use.
