We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, produced between 1830 and 1837, bridges the Regency and early Victorian eras. Games tables from this period typically feature substantial proportions, bold C-scrolls, carved acanthus leaf motifs, heavily turned or carved central pedestals, and quadform bases.

High-end 19th-century card and games tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or rosewood, often featuring rich veneers over pine or oak carcases. Interiors frequently incorporated baize playing surfaces, concealed swivel mechanisms, and cast brass castors.

Authentic pieces display distinct period construction details, such as hand-cut dovetails, original brass castors, and a rich figure in the rosewood veneer. Look for characteristic heavy architectural carvings, scroll friezes, and a weighted quadform or platform base typical of the 1830s.

When folded shut, a games table functions as a console table placed against a wall, beneath a mirror, or in an entryway. Unfolded, it can be styled as an active card table in a study, library, or living room nook flanked by period or contemporary armchairs.

Keep rosewood furniture away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent the timber from drying out or fading. Clean surfaces with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to maintain the wood finish.
