Description
Early C19th George IV period mahogany sewing or work-table . Fine quality rectangular work-table with a fitted and divided compartmentalised top drawer for sewing accessories, and with a sliding shaped mahogany needlework ‘basket’ below. The drawer fitted original ebonised knob drawer pulls and with original lock and key , together with a small interior brass bolt which secures the sliding compartment beneath. The table being of free-standing form and veneered in highly-figured ‘flame’ mahogany . Raised on flat ‘standard’ end supports with carved corbel brackets and shaped ‘sabre’ type legs fitted with original brass castors, united by a shaped stretcher . The top with a simple ‘thumb-moulded’ edge and gently rounded corners . In excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina. Has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops, ready to use .
