Magnificent English Georgian Mahogany & Amboyna Tea Caddy - Prince of Wales Feather Inlay

Description

Dating to around 1810, so celebrating 200 years, this splendid two compartment tea caddy is a must for the advanced collector.

Made from Mahogany, it is cross-banded in exotic (and the most expensive wood) Amboyna, framed with ebony stringing. The Amboyna is carried through into the interior with underside of the lid and the two compartment lids are finished in this highly decorative wood. Each lid is topped with a turned Ivory knob.

This is no ordinary caddy with the Prince of Wales feathers inlaid into the lid and front, the latter finished with a small ivory escutcheon which houses the key (unfortunately not working but the perfect finishing touch).

A wonderful example is stunning condition, having been professionally re-French polished to gleam.
