Antique Late 18th Century Oak Secretaire Bookcase C1780

Antique Late 18th Century Oak Secretaire Bookcase and dating from around the time of George 111 c1780. Constructed from quality oak it has a moulded cornice to the top with carved lunette frieze above two carved and glazed doors with working key and internally there are two fully adjustable shelves. The base has a moulded edge to the top over a long deep and carved drawer which slides and folds down to reveal a secretaire interior with assorted pigeon holes and letter racks. To the centre kneehole there is a fielded panelled door with brass handle and with internal shelf. To each side there are three carved drawers all of which are oak lined with brass handles . It is raised on bracket feet and the top removes for ease of transporting.

With a lovely deep colour and patination and oozing all the charm and character of the period. Our furniture is cleaned and polished using traditional waxing methods.
