~ French - Circa 1880 ~

~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A large and stunning antique French Baroque table clock by Samuel Marti. The clock is elaborately decorated in a nautical theme. The base is pieced with wave forms with stylised dolphins as feet to each corner. The bell shaped top pierced as a swirling sea with mythical creatures riding above.

To each side are handles as a splash with mythical creatures, framed by a rope border. The clock is decorated in the round, allowing it to be displayed on a table if desired. The dial is heavy gilt bronze with 12 individual enamel cartouches and blued steel hands. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of high quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock, please ask and we will send you a link.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
