Circa 1880'S a Pair Victorian Bronze Ewers

Description

Circa 1880's a pair of unusual, intricately designed bronze ewers, decorated throughout with mythological images. They may once have been silver plated.

Each one weighs 1.3 kgs.

The ewers measure 29cm in height, approximately 11cm in width and with a base of about 6cm square.

At the top of the handle is a face with ram's horns, pointed ears and a beard, and a long clawed arm forms the handle and rests on the chest of a winged female.

At the lower part of the ewers are two large crabs and two rams.

They are beautifully designed and both are in very good condition.
