Antique French Oak Armoire de Mariage Louis XV
This large impressive solid oak armoire features crisp, chip carvings and floral motifs to its facade and decorative shaped panel doors.
Below the doors is a full-width drawer with hand-forged steel handles. This sits above a decorative carved and shaped apron.
The main doors have steel escutcheons with its original working lock and key.
The armoire stands on elegant cabriole legs and has pegged construction on all joints.
Inside there are three full-width solid pine shelves. Upon the middle shelf is a steel hook to keep the doors closed.
The polished surfaces have a beautiful undulating ripple created by the cabinet-maker''s use of an adds in the production of each plank of oak. This traditional method of carpentry shows evidence of its early age.
The armoire has been through our workshop where it has been checked, cleaned and re-waxed in the traditional manner.
The doors, drawer and pediment cornice will be packed separately for transporting.
Overall in very good condition with some age-related marks expected on a piece of this period.
The piece will require a two man lift.
