Artisan Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

The set is comprised of one large centrepiece bowl and two symmetrical side bowls, each with matching gadrooned decorations and a highly desirable Roman Frieze.
The Roman Frize refers to the applied band of the exquisite and intricately decorated scenes of Roman figures on the top bezel of the bowl. This style was one of the trademark styles on Elkington's works with such designs being found on bowls, ewers and goblets.

The contrast between the embellished Roman Frieze and the 'plain' finish of the exterior is exceptional. In addition to such divergence of designs on the exterior, the interiors of the bowls are lightly gilded which builds upon the artistic contrast with tonal disparity.

With such use of gilding and gadrooning, the bowl's interior excellently accents the exterior mirror-like silver finish and glistens magnificently under lighting in many different angles.
Due to the large and accommodating size of the dishes, in addition to rich interior decor, they may be used practically to serve a variety of food such as fruits, bread, cakes or your preferred choice.

The trio is fully hallmarked with clear English marks on the reverse side.
An excellent addition for a luxurious dining experience whether be it for display or usage with food of your choice.
