Description

A superb and substantial Sheraton revival mahogany Carlton House pedestal desk. The raised centre having a small marquetry inlaid cupboard with two banks of two drawers and flanked by two stationary boxes fitted with pigeonholes and galleried tops. The replaced hand dyed leather writing surface with blind and gold tooling set within satinwood cross banding. The centre having a wide drawer flanked by 3 bow fronted and graduated drawers all with fine marquetry inlay and original brass drop handles. The desk is raised on 8 square tapering and inlaid legs with spade feet. This large fine inlaid desk is attributed to Edwards & Roberts of London it has very good pen work and top quality mahogany linings throughout.
