I am pleased to offer this superb 19th century Bakshiash carpet in unheard of condition- virtually full pile with almost no repair. I did fix a few moth spots and one wrinkle but essentially this beautiful 150 year old carpet is in outrageously good condition with the original knotted fringes. It comes from a rare group of 'Tree of Life' Bakshiash carpets which are treasured by collectors and decorators alike. Three main trees run up the main field and in between are Cypruses and weeping willows, naively drawn in a simplistic rendition- which is a large part of the charm. The colours chosen are gorgeous. A milky white ground colour with trees in light tan and an orangey coral with accents of abashed sky blue, within a sky blue border- simply divine!

In a career of handling exemplary antique carpets, I've only had a handful of Bakshiash and this one is one of the best.
