Early C19th George IV period mahogany lamp table or ‘flower stand’.
Elegant mahogany square dished-top table raised on a ring-turned column with quadrupite inverted ‘umbrella’ supports.
The single-piece figured mahogany dish top with a carved ‘dash-and-dots’ carved edge , resonant of the designs used by the esteemed cabinet-making firm of Gillows of Lancaster.
Probably designed to display a flower arrangement or for use as a lamp table or candle-stand , the use of 4 supports rather than the usual 3 , offering excellent stability.
In excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina. Minor historic marks to the highly-figured solid mahogany top , but retaining the original polished finish and surface .
