This George I walnut chest of drawers was made circa 1720.

A chest of this type would have been made for one of the major homes in a major country estate, often using the timber from timber farmed on the estate from fallen trees.

This fine example that has fantastic colour and patina.

It stands on straight bracket feet with the usual arrangement of drawers, 2 half width drawers at the top and a further 3 gradated drawers under, all fitted with period open brass plate swing handles.

The drawers and top with herringbone banding.
