Dolland of London Mahogany Stick Barometer

Description

A fine quality late Georgian stick barometer by noted makers Dolland of London. A mahogany case of good proportions with a stepped moulded pediment. Choice flame mahogany case veneers with canted case sides. Well engraved silvered register plates signed 'Dolland, London'. A side key to open the glass wooded framed door. A vernier slide adjuster to mark the rise & fall in air pressure shown from 27-31". The original cistern cover.

Dolland of London are noted makers and are documented and illustrated in the barometer books. This example dates to circa 1830. The family of instrument makers were working from around 1750.
