Fine Pair of Edwardian Silver Gilt Sauce Boats

Description

Large pair of very fine quality Edwardian silver gilt sauce boats with unusual integrated stands. Georgian style with gadrooned rims with scallop shell and acanthus leaf mouldings and flying C scroll handles with acanthus leaf thumb rests. Set on nicely shaped legs with scallop shell feet and terminals. The stands have matching gadrooned detail and scallop shell feet. An attractive crest to one side of each boat and the rear of the stands is engraved with a rampant lion surrounded by flowers and the phrase "Facta Non Verba" (Facts not words) in a scroll at the bottom. The boats and stand are hallmarked for London 1906, maker Charles Stuart Harris and the nuts also marked with the lion passant.

They measure 21.5cm (8 1/2") long and 21cm (8 1/4") wide across the stands and 14cm (5 1/2") high. The boats measure 21.5cm (8 1/8") long and 11cm (4 1/4") wide and weigh a very substantial 1982g / 63.7ozt in total. Each has a easy capacity of 500ml / 18 fluid ounces.

Condition is excellent with no damage or dents and very minor handling wear.
