Large sized hallmarked solid silver and velvet jewellery box.
Valentine love heart shape that is large enough be used as a small sewing box with a pin cushion top as well as being a lovely ring, earring or jewellery box.
Full London hallmark with the date letter for 1902 and the makers mark William Comyns one of the top silversmiths at the time which shows in the exceptional quality of the embossed silver.
Lovely detailed repousse decorations to the silver surround to the body.
Stands 4 1/4 inch 11 cm tall, 6 5/8 inches 16.8 cm wide and 7 1/8 inches 18 cm long.
The silver weight is 63.5 grams
Excellent condition, no damage or repairs. A few small holes in the silver high points where it''s been polished over the years.
The velvet cover and lining to the centre of the piece were really worn and ripped so
the velvet cover, lining and lid have all been professionally recovered.
Now makes a fabulous display piece as well as being very useful.
