1930s Cortébert pocket watch and chain.

Cortébert used to be one of the highest regarded premium watch brands, manufacturing their own movements, supplying movements to other brands such as Rolex and introducing the jump-hour arrangement. When the quartz crisis hit the industry in the 1970s, the majority of prestige brands ceased production including Cortébert.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement is stamped Cortébert, 7 Jewels, Swiss Made and the calibre number 534.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The nickel case has general surface marks and a little unevenness to the back.

The acrylic lens is in nice condition.

The signed dial has its original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There is a faint hairline crack between 4 and 5 but not immediately noticeable to the naked eye.

The watch comes with a single chain, 36cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
