Description

A lovely well executed Oil on board, Still Life Summer Flowers by Phyllis Morgans RGI 1911-2001. 60 x 49cm Framed.

Phyllis May Morgans RGI (1911-2001) was a painter from Enfield, Middlesex. Phyllis studied at St. Martin's School of Art where her principal subject was fashion design but later turned to painting, initially portraiture and illustration. As an exhibitor she showed at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and was made an Honorary Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers.

She exhibited at the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and held a considerable number of solo shows. Many of her works have been reproduced, several in the 'Laing' calendars. Her work is well represented in both private and public collections, including that of the Hitchin Museum and Art Gallery and Norris Museum, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire and the Library of Congress, Washington D.C.
