Poirot Art Deco has dated this piece to the 1920s.
Due to it’s height the top drawer cleverly opens upwards to allow access. Attractive detailing to the raised rectangular walnut handles. The clothes hanging sections lined in cedar, to prevent moths. The three sections slide onto the bottom plinth and simply secured by two screws.
To the reverse a label showing the piece made by ‘Token’ at Portsmouth, signed by Betty Joel and its maker. Dated 1929.

Betty Joel (pictured) designed furniture, textiles and interiors, and had shops in Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. The Studio Magazine featured her work between 1927 and 1937. Today the quality and design of her pieces are highly regarded.
