Description

Unusual Empire style painted and gilded pier glass and two tier marble top console table c.1830. Gilded and moulded cornice over a 22" x 33" mirror plate, applied gilded gesso decoration of a Classical urn and anthemion motifs, flanked with turned and reeded half columns with finial points all against a pale green painted ground. The design and decoration is continued on the base with projecting corners to the marble top over matching column front legs. With a low stretcher shelf with a deep apron and raised on finial feet. With a repair to the marble on the lower shelf and obvious wear to the finish, otherwise very good condition with original gilding. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
