Description

A rare and good anglers travelling fishing rod box circa 1850. The property of one g.e.thomas of st jame's square. London.

Lined with green baize with lock and key and original carrying handle to top. Swivel hooks and eyes. Faux oak original painted finish.

These cases were used by anglers who often travelled by coach or train to various popular fishing areas of the british isles. Sometimes strapped to the outside of coach or carriage they were prone to suffer extremes of weather and as a result are quite rare, much rarer than the rods that ravelled within!
