George V Silver "Hatching Chick" Pin Cushion By Sampson Mordan & Co, Chester 1914

This antique has been viewed 47 times in the past month with the most views from France.

This novelty silver "hatching chick" pin cushion was designed by the collectable Sampson Mordan & Co and is fully hallmarked for Chester 1914.
It is the small example.
The pin cushion is designed as a newly hatched chick sitting in half an egg shell. It is beautifully detailed, with the chick's back being the cushion, which is finished in the original red velvet.
The chick is 'weighted' in such a way that, should it be knocked over, it will 'right' itself.
