Wonderful Victorian English Cigar Smokers Table Set by Favell, Elliot & Co C.1880

Description

A truly wonderful table set, superb quality and excellent condition. Made from silver plate, the set consists of a tray, two different sizes of cigar holders (both with gilded interior), a tray for discarded matches, a vesta box with strike to one end and the cigar lighter.

The cigar lighter would have been filled with fuel and the wick lit, the two lighters would then have been lit from this central flame.

Various pieces are hallmarked with the silversmith's initials RF E & Co L for Rupert Favell, Elliot & Co, dating the set to around 1880, making this a true Victorian example.

The tray measures 10 3/4" x 7", the matchbox measures 2 1/2" x 1 1/2" and the lighter 2 1/2" 1 3/4" x 3" tall. All in excellent condition.
