Victorian Walnut & Tunbridge Ware Writing Slope.
A superb example of a Victorian walnut writing slope featuring Tunbridge ware bands with hexagonal Tunbridge ware inlays to the top and key escutcheon with mother of pear to each centre. The box is edged in ebony. The key is just for decoration and doesn’t work the lock.
The box houses a releatherd writing surface with space to the back of the inside lid for paper work, more space underneath the writing surface , a pen compartment with a section to the underneath for pens, two sections for inkwells with two inkwells one with a lid and one without and a nib slope.
The box measures 40 x 24 and stands 17 cm high.
