Description

Rare pair of canopy top porter’s armchairs c.1910. Shapely walnut frames with a domed top and swept sides, carved with a repeating leaf detail on the front edge. Short arms with scrolling acanthus carving on the terminals repeated on the supports below. Webbed seats with loose feather filled cushions. Crisp carved detail to the frame below the seats and raised on tapering turned and fluted legs front and rear. Recently upholstered in a deep red and ivory damask fabric. Excellent condition, frames have been cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Clean and perfectly serviceable covers with just one tiny mark to one seat.
