Nymphaea capensis (Cape blue waterlily) is an aquatic flowering plant of the water lily family Nymphaeaceae. Native to Africa, the plant is found growing abundantly in freshwater habitats in tropical regions of Africa, and as an introduced species in Australia, the state of Florida, and other tropical areas. This plant's bulb can survive relatively long periods of time without rainfall in a dry river bed. During the rain season, as the riverbed or bog fills up, the bulb will sprout leaves and flowers. The Cape blue waterlily grows best in full sun to semi-sun and in relatively shallow water.
About Paul Jones:
Paul Jones was an Australian botanical artist. He specialized in painting beautiful plants and flowers.
His style is reminiscent of Thorntonís Temple of Flora. Jones was one of the finest botanical artists of the last 150 years. Many museums have pictures by Jones. E.g. The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the Smithsonian in Washington.
About The Framing:
The lithograph is mounted in a luxury handmade, hand-finished and wonderfully gilded hammered wooden frame with a confidently proportioned decorated mount. A fine gold fillet has been added as a very sophisticated contrast for the plate. The frame is renaissance gold (the main face features thick foil incorporating real gold) and with good light this piece just glows, with a wonderful, deep and warm gold tone (even our professional photographs can't adequately capture the beautiful frame colour). The glass is museum quality with low reflection, amazing colour transparency and high U.V. absorption to protect the works. The archival acid-free materials and professional techniques used to protect and frame this work will ensure that it continues to be enjoyed for many decades to come.
Framed Dimensions: 78cm tall by 63cm wide by 4cm deep.
A timeless and effortlessly sophisticated collection of highly decorative and professionally framed fine, rare, old and vintage hand coloured lithographs, chromolithographs, lithographs and etchings.
