Description

This complete khorjin (saddle-bags) dates to the mid nineteenth century - a very rare find these days - as most were cut up into two halves by unscrupulous Eastern dealers, who could see more of a monetary advantage in selling the two halves separately! These fabulous bags, which were made by Shahsevan nomads in the Qeydar area - near Zanjan in north-west Persia - have early, saturated, vegetable-dye colours, woven in soumak technique and in very good condition with original madder-red plain-weave back. Highly collectable and rare.
