N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The man is depicted smiling holding what appears to be a carp that he has caught, with his rod in the other hand with the line leading to the fishes mouth. The piece shows a fantastic amount of detail showing everything from the hair on the mans head to capturing his expression perfectly on his face.
The whole piece is then mounted on a wonderful cross section of walnut root which sets it off perfectly. The piece is also signed to the mans bottom half by the maker.
A truly beautiful example of a meiji bronze with a fantastic subject which would look beautiful in any collection or home.
It measures approximately:
9.75” / 24.5cm Tall.
7” / 18cm Wide.
6.5” / 16.5cm Deep.
