19th century
Description

Antique Mahogany And Brass Inlaid Fusee Mantel Clock Charles Fletcher Barnsley.

This beautiful antique mantel clock has an arched mahogany case with a fantastic rich colour. The sides of the case are then decorated with two lovely brass carry handle with shaped backgrounds, as well as the front of the case having a wonderful brass inlay. The sides and front of the case then has a wonderful, shaped moulding to the base leading to four round, brass feet. Finally the back of the case then has an arched back door with glass viewing window so that the movement can be seen, complete with its working lock and key.

The dial is then silvered and set out in black Roman numerals with a smaller, ring marking out the minutes to the outside. The dial then has two wonderful shaped hands as well as a domed glass set into a brass bezel which opens via a working lock and key to the left of the case. Finally the centre of the dial is then signed by the maker “Cha Fletcher Church Street Barnsley” to show that the clock was made by Charles Fletcher who worked in Church Street, Barnsley.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. The movement is a single fusee example of the upmost quality and is ticking away as it should. The movement comes complete with its pendulum which can be fully regulated as well as its winding key.
