Antique Silver Marks Pocket Watch and Chain

Antique silver pocket watch, M H Marks & Co, and chain.

The watch has an English 3/4 plate stem-winding pin set movement, signed M H Marks & Co London, which is working well. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover with light surface marking from use.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and it is hallmarked inside both of the case backs for Chester 1909, with a case maker's mark for George Stephen Burt, watch case manufacturer of Prescot, Lancashire, UK. The case is in good condition with just the odd minor mark, and the engine turned detail is still nice and crisp on the hinged case back.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There are a few hairline cracks but they are faint.

The watch comes with a single silver chain, 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar is marked SS for sterling silver, the clasp is hallmarked for 1910 and each of the links on the chain have the lion silver mark. There is also a silver fob with an inscription for 1902.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
