Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The decoration surrounds a central oval void which acts as cartouche for personalized engraving by your silversmith should you desire.

The stand is supported by the most elegant Lion's paw feet and the kettle secured with the use of two "keys" one releases the back of the kettle so that it could pivot on the front hinge to pour while still on the stand. The key to the front can also be released removing the kettle completely. There is a burner below which would have been filled with fuel to light the wick ... (there isn't a wick present).

The handle is made from solid Ebony finishing off this stunning and highly decorative piece. The underside has the makers mark for Thomas Woolley of Birmingham. Excellent condition measuring 12" tall to top of handle and 9" across from tip of spout.
