Sussex Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The main desk is Amboyna Wood with box line inlay. It has brass edges and exquisite ormolu mounts which are gilded. The casters are also the finest quality attached to square end cups.
The 6 drawers all run smoothly and a key is present. The construction is 2nd to none, the dovetails are a joy to behold and the Amboyna is even along the drawer edge. The drawers are completely encased with a solid dust board construction underneath. It even is extremely heavy again a sign if the shear quality.
We have replaced the leather in the top and we have re finished the desk to a very high standard.
The is a museum quality piece of furniture that would grace any home.
