Rare Georgian Silver Mounted Red Leather Sewing Etui or Needle Case, Circa 1795

Description

This gorgeous Georgian silver mounted red leather sewing case dates circa 1795. The rich red leather case strengthened with bright-engraved silver borders and decorated with beautiful rosette rivets both front and back. The elaborate silver shield catch on the front has a small button that when pulled down releases the lid. The green card interior fitted with the original bodkin, steel scissors, needle book.

Hallmarks:

Unmarked as was very often the case with such items but tested as silver.

Dimensions:

10cm x 7.5cm.

4 inches x 3 inches.

Condition:

Leather in very good condition for the age.

Silver borders in very good condition

Silver catch fully functioning.

Clean Interior.
