Antique Early Georgian George III Oak Lowboy Side Hall Lamp Table Queen Anne

18th century
Description

Early Georgian Oak Lowboy

An amazing example of a very rare Lowboy table.

We bring to you this excellent rare example of an original early Georgian George III (circa 1760-1801) solid Oak country Lowboy.

The table features a 2 plank top with Mahogany Cross-banded Inlays above a single drawer which is also framed with Mahogany cross-banded inlays. The draw is complete with dovetailed construction and solid polished brass swan neck handles with escutcheon plates. This Lowboy features pegged joint construction, the pegs are visible from the underside showing its elegantly primitive construction. The Lowboy stands on Queen Anne hoof legs.

This Lowboy has a lovely lightly faded original oak colour with lots of patina and its original waxed finish. The table has at some stage of its long life suffered from woodworm which has been treated and is no longer active. The table has also had small repairs done in the past as expected with anything from this period.

We have sympathetically restored this item maintaining original patina by carefully waxing it to preserve the finish and give it a lovely natural sheen.

Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents, however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm, character and provenance.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
