Description

Woven in the North East Caucasus in the 19th century, this (illegibly) dated prayer rug is a much sought after collectors item. The flaming boteh, filled with varying designs float on a navy blue ground with a bird border on white ground that also forms the niche. Glistening wool and very fine weave. In very good 'as found' condition, meaning it has not yet had any restoration done to it and you can see from the many detail photos that a little work is required to bring it up to showroom condition. Since writing here 'Some restoration done' discourages clients who cannot see the work, I have decided to leave this one up as is but include the restoration within the price. Minimal amounts are required but time of circa 3 months is necessary.
