Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A hexagonal hall lantern is a six-sided hanging light fixture enclosed with glass panels, traditionally framed in brass or iron. Popular from the eighteenth through early twentieth centuries, these lights were designed for entryways and corridors to protect candle flames or early electric bulbs from draughts.

Traditional hall lanterns are constructed using cast or sheet brass frames, fitted with individual clear or bevelled glass panes. The central electrical or candle stems are typically made of brass, suspended via chain or hooked rods from a matching ceiling rose.

Authentic pieces from this period often display natural surface oxidisation, slight variations in hand-cut glass panes, and solid cast brass fittings with aged patina. Original internal light sockets may show historical wiring channels or bayonet mount fittings.

Positioning a period lantern in a high-ceilinged hallway, entrance foyer, or stairwell creates a focused architectural focal point. It can also serve as effective accent lighting above a kitchen island or dining space to contrast with contemporary decor.

Dust the glass and brass frame regularly using a dry, lint-free microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive chemical cleaners on aged brass to preserve the patina, and ensure all electrical components are inspected and re-wired by a qualified electrician prior to installation.
