Hand of Glory has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

Made in two halves and hand stitched with a central seam.
Made in India for the Ottoman Islamic market.

In very good condition, the fabric remains strong, a few tiny pin pricks and very small area of staining but due to the profuse decoration not really noticeable.
This hanging is part of a collection of antique textiles and Islamic works of art collected by Sir Horace James Seymour GCMG CVO (1885 – 1978) whilst Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Iran from 1936 - 1939, and until recently remained in the Seymour family by descent.
233cm long x 163cm wide.
