Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian display cabinets, produced between 1901 and 1910, are characterised by lighter, more refined proportions compared to Victorian furniture. They often feature mahogany frames, fine wood inlays, geometric astragal glazing, and straight or slender tapered legs.

Cabinet makers primarily used solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, often accented with satinwood or boxwood stringing and marquetry inlays. The cabinet doors featured clear sheet glass held by wooden glazing bars, and interiors were frequently lined with silk or damask fabric.

Authentic pieces display period-correct joinery, such as hand-cut dovetails on internal frame structures, original brass locks and escutcheons, and natural ageing or minor air bubbles within the glass panes. Hand-laid wood stringing and period fabric linings also indicate genuine turn-of-the-century craftsmanship.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall in a dining room, living area, or hallway to create a focal point. Style the internal shelves with curated modern ceramics, books, or glassware to strike a balance between historic craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.

Dust the exterior timber regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the mahogany patina. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber warping and fabric fading.
