Here we have a fine Skeleton clock with chain fusee movement standing on an ebonised base with four turned solid brass feet. The wheels are all five spoke and the fusee wheel has the correct skeleton clock ''stop''. The dome is free of any cracks and the frame is substantial with turned columns and has a very pleasant Victorian shape. The pendulum is a heavy lead filled brass ''bob'' with adjustment. The dial is silvered and the Romans are engraved and filled with engravers wax. Skeleton clocks generally come as either four spoke, five spoke or six. The more spokes, the better with skeleton clocks and I think this one is a great example at a very reasonable price. This clock (timepiece) dates circa 1850.
