A superb quality Art Deco silver boat shaped dish with hallmarks for Chester 1938 and maker’s mark for William Neale & Son Ltd. The dish stands on a cast silver stepped central foot and a fluted rim ending in stepped geometric handles, and these are classic features of pure Art Deco design. The inner base of the dish is folded (rather than just curved) to heighten the design intention of a boat shape. The hallmarks are clear and the base is stamped with the retailer’s name John Bagshaw & Son Liverpool. This is a stylish and quality object.
